A: Yes. As part of the proposal, the development team has reconfigured the existing parking lot as well as added new parking spaces. In total, 139 new parking spaces will be added to the Longmeadow Shops and the overall circulation of the existing parking lot, which now features some dead end parking lanes, will be improved.
Q: Why does this proposal require a favorable town meeting vote?
A: The proposal put forward requires a change in zoning on a 1.89 acre site owned by the Longmeadow Shops. The petition to change this area to a business zoned parcel is one that requires a 2/3rds favorable vote at a special town meeting.
Q: When is the town meeting?
A: The special town meeting date will be Tuesday, February 3, 2015 7:00 PM Longmeadow High School Gymnasium.
Q: Will there be any meetings prior to the town meeting?
A: The development team has met with the Longmeadow's Board of Selectman and Planning Board and anticipates meeting with them over the next several months to keep them updated on project plans. Additionally, the Planning Board has scheduled a public hearing for residents to voice their opinion on the proposal that will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 Planning Board hearing.at the Longmeadow High School.
Q: How large is the proposed expansion?
A: The entire proposed expansion would be located on property that the Longmeadow Shops currently owns. The proposal would bring 21,000 square feet of retail space to an area between the Bank of America and the First Church of Christ Scientist. The proposal will NOT expand beyond the land currently owned by the Longmeadow Shops.
Q: What will the proposal bring to the shops?
A: The combined 21,000 square feet of retail space will be shared among three tenants. The space will host a drive-thru pharmacy as well as two retail tenants.

Q: Why has a new town meeting date been established?
A: The Select Board acknowledged concerns regarding voting irregularities during the Town Meeting on 11/18/2014, and to ensure each vote is properly recorded, scheduled a new town meeting.
